Challenge
Zogics uses BigCommerce as their eCommerce Platform, and Skubana for Inventory and Order Management. Though Skubana imports orders from their BigCommerce sites, it does not import customer data or group assignments.
Zogics required a daily sales report sorted by customer group assignment to be distributed to management and sales staff. More than 50% of their sales come from their website and many of those sales are to repeat buyers.
The data they needed for this report was located at various BigCommerce sites and Skubana. Staff spent enormous amounts of time downloading and connecting data between BigCommerce and Skubana. As their sales grew so did the task of creating their daily sales report. Because the was process so labor intensive, they could barely compile the report in time to be useful for management and sales staff.
Management at Zogics realized they needed a way to automate the daily sales report process. They wanted it automatically generated and emailed to a list of recipients. The Daily Sales report is a crucial part of their sales workflow and they needed it to work every day without fail.
Zogics asked us to help automating the Daily Sales project. We were all too glad to help them succeed with such a vital process for their company.
Solution
We created the Reporting Synch for Zogics to automate 4 crucial tasks required to generate their daily sales report.
- Customer Groups are downloaded from BigCommerce every day at 12:30 AM so the most recent list of groups is available for the daily sales report.
- Group assignments for all new customers since the last check is downloaded and saved for use with the report. The Reporting Synch checks every day at 2:00 AM and looks back 10 days by default for new customers without a group assignment. It downloads the assignments from BigCommerce and updates the customer file accordingly.
- At 4:00 AM the Daily Sales report is generated for all sales from 4 marketplaces sorted by group assignment.
- The Reporting Synch generates a pdf and xlsx file which is attached to an email and sent to all recipients defined in the distribution list for this report.
All email recipients will find the Daily Sales report in their inbox as soon as they arrive to work in the morning ready for them to review previous day sales.
The Reporting Synch runs every day even on weekends and holidays. It is totally automated and does not require human intervention. User input controls are included with the Reporting Synch in case Zogics needs to adjust processing options for any reason. The advantage to user level input controls is that they do not require any additional programming avoiding additional costs.

The Reporting Synch we created for Zogics automatically generates a daily sales report of all sales from Zogics.com, TheWipeShoppe.com, ZogicsPet.com, and TheCleaningStation.com sorted by customer group assignment. The report with its pdf and excel attachments is waiting in their inbox first thing in the morning ready for management review.
