Amazon Realtime Orders

Challenge

Koyal Wholesale’s subsidiary AndazPress sells custom party, prints, and curated gifts on Amazon.com.  Most of their sales requires additional customizations like custom text and images imprinted on a variety of their products.

As their business grew and the volume of orders dramatically increased, they were falling behind and missing their ship by dates.  They needed a way to download their customized orders in real time (as soon as the order is submitted by the customer) so that orders requiring customization can be processed and shipped in a timely manner.

As you can imagine, product customizations for Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and the like are time sensitive and must be completed and shipped before the occasion occurs.  Late shipments and Missed deadlines lead to unhappy even angry customers.

Solution

We created a synchronizer the Real Time Orders (RTO) to download Amazon orders using the Orders API of the Amazon Marketplace Web Service (Amazon MWS) to retrieve order updates in real-time.

The RTO Synchronizer is a native windows 10 application running on their server.  Though the RTO runs automatically in the background, it contains controls to allow for user configuration when necessary.

The Real Time Orders Synchronizer is designed to operate 24/7/365 automatically checking for orders and updates every 20 minutes.  New orders and updates are immediately downloaded along with customization artifacts for processing within their customization workflow.

Bottom Line

The RTO Synchronizer we created for Koyal, allows them to download their orders in real time so they can meet their production schedule and ship completed orders to customers before they are due.

This process is one less concern for Koyal’s staff allowing them to focus on other aspects of customization production.  This project is good example where automating is the right answer and best course of action.
