Skubana will begin replacing Buyer Name, Email, Address and Phone data from shipped Amazon FBA orders with “redacted” beginning August 31, 2022.
What does this mean for Marketplace Reporting: Customer information for orders, financials, and certain customer reports will be replaced with the word “redacted” as soon as Skubana propagates this data from their API.
What about Legacy Amazon FBA Orders Data: We have no plans at this time to retroactively replace customer information for existing FBA orders with redactions; however, it is possible any order modified after Skubana begins it redactions, will have its customer information replaced with redactions. This is a function of Skubana, so we have no control over these modifications when requesting orders.
A customer asked “How will this affect MPR reporting and underlying data? Will FBA orders all get lumped under a single customer record of “redacted“?” The short answer to this question is there will be no customer record of “redacted.” From a CRM perspective such a customer record is useless. It will always be the Top/Best Customer for every customer report, so it becomes pointless to have such a customer record.
Skubana does not have a Customers module/section per se. Marketplace Reporting derives customer information from requested orders. Each newly created or modified order received from Skubana has customer information and use this information to manage the customer database.
We use the “CustomerID” value provided by Skubana for each order to determine if the customer record already exists within the customer database. If it does not exist, then then a customer record is created and populated with customer and ship data provided from Skubana.
Due to the redaction issue, we’ll be adding one more check before adding a new customer record. If the email address is redacted@redacted.com then a new customer record will not be added for the order. However, the redaction info will still be found with the customer and shipping data associated with the order.
In summary, there will be no single “redacted” customer record for Amazon FBA Orders, but those redactions will still be found with the individual orders.
The redaction issue does not affect existing reports so no updates for any reports are necessary at this time.
The Skubana Integrator will be updated with the additional redaction check mentioned previously. The update will be in effect no later than 9/6/2022.
