We are pleased to announce an API integration with Braintree to help merchants like yourself integrate your payment processing workflow with your order management system.
A long-term customer of ours recently faced a challenge with their Miva stores and Braintree payments with expiring authorizations. Miva provides the transaction ID from Braintree for each authorization but does not provide the payment token.
The merchant does not charge a customer’s credit card until the order is shipped. Some orders for a variety of reasons could not be shipped before the authorization expired. Without the payment token for the transaction, the merchant cannot reauthorize and settle transactions that have expired.
Prior to automating the payment token retrieval process for the merchant, they had to manually look up each transaction on Braintree, copy the payment token, and paste it into their order management system. Now that they have the payment token, they can charge the customer’s credit card and ship the order. A terribly slow and time-consuming process.
The solution we proposed and implemented automated payment token retrieval for the merchant. We created an integrator which automatically checks their orders every 5 minutes for any missing payment tokens. When missing payment tokens are found then the integrator will communicate with the appropriate Braintree API to retrieve the payment token using the stored transaction ID. With the payment token in hand, the merchant can complete the payment and ship the order.
Automating payment token retrieval for the merchant saved time, improved order processing and shipments, reduced errors, and freed employees from a monotonous task. The time saved from automation allows them to focus on other important business issues to help improve and expand the merchant’s e-commerce operations.
